You find yourself in recurring patterns that is the topic of this episode of the podcast and why is it happening?
And how do you break free from it? I honestly understand this all too well because there was a time in my life where I literally used to just get up and cry almost every day wondering like what the hell am I missing? Why is this happening to me? The problem with this question, if you’ve listened to the podcast, you know that or you know anything about my backstory, you know that it was when I started asking different questions that I woke up to the possibilities of having different answers because when you ask a different question, you get a different answer.
And so to continue to say, why does this keep happening to me quite honestly? I feel that it is a spiritual approach that is outdated, it is detrimental to healing and it keeps people stuck in the same place, ruminating in their minds and their heads over and over and over again on the same thing. And that is part of what keeps them stuck. I was talking with a friend and actually a client the other day. He said to me, he gave me an instance of a neighborhood kid that was observing him in his yard and called him a weirdo. And then a couple of days later, he said, well, the plot thickens.
Now I heard this adolescent neighbor kid across the street calling me an asshole. So we have to ask ourselves, what is the truth about this? And what happens in what I believe is this outdated spiritual approach of let me figure this out in my head why this keeps happening to me. Wrong approach. I did that for years. What is it about me that is the problem? Why am I drawing this or attracting this?
But that question is what keeps you stuck in continuing to hold it in place so that it keeps repeating? What do I mean by that? We know about the law of cause and effect. We know about quantum physics and the double slit experience is proven science and quantum quantum mechanics, quantum physics, quantum science, whatever you want to call it. I will leave a link in the show notes that you can go watch the video on YouTube. How we manifest anything is by continuously putting our attention on something.
That is what the study showed that when the observer gives their attention to something, they hold it in place in the 3D world. In our tangible 3D world. And the minute we withdraw our attention from it, it goes away. It goes back into the cosmos to the unmanifested state.
What do I mean by that? Edison, I’ll use Edison as an example, right? How many tries to take? He had a vision for a lightbulb. And he had to keep focusing on the lightbulb the lightbulb, the lightbulb until the right formula and equation came out of the cosmos and into the 3D reality. He didn’t continue to hold his attention on the previous formulas. He only held his attention on the end result, which is what created the formula to come into manifestation and the real world. So back to my friend, he is going through a phase in the stage of creating something new in the world and like all of us do because we have these tapes because we have these stories and identities that have been programmed into our subconscious minds since we were children. And we believe they’re true.
We think they’re real. He’s coming up against judgment. People will judge me if I speak up or the unworthiness or the not good enough. We all go through this if we are living in following our Dharma and awakened and growing out of our fear and into living our truth in our Dharma. So as he’s having these thoughts about I’m scared, I’m fearful, I’m gonna be judged.
People might think I’m a weirdo. Guess what’s happening? He’s holding those thoughts. He’s creating the manifestation we are powerful, powerful manifesters. It’s not taking any time at all for him to create what it is that he’s putting his attention on. We are aware our attention is. And so how beautiful the universe is always saying yes and he’s focused on people are going to think I’m weird and he’s got this neighborhood kid in his backyard calling him a weirdo. And I’m not mocking this person.
I’m saying like look how perfectly we manifest what it is we’re putting our attention on. So now here’s a spiritual approach that I don’t personally believe serves in this instance. He’s thinking to himself, well, I need to find out why this is happening. I need to address this. No, you really don’t.
That’s when we get pulled into the subconscious mind into the ego of, well, you know, what this kid is doing is wrong, maybe, or he’s calling me an asshole or it’s an opportunity to learn or to teach or to grow, is it? What is the truth about that? The truth is, it could very well be it has absolutely nothing to do with him. This boy has absolutely nothing to do with him. He doesn’t need to fix it. He can just change his attention. And he can change his thoughts. And when he does that, I will bet you these instances go away.
But if he continues to put his attention on this kid’s calling me a weirdo, this kid’s calling me an asshole, he is just going to draw more and more and more of that experience to himself because he’s focusing on it. The way out of this is to focus on what he does want and what he wants is to create something new.
And so when he puts his attention on that and he starts to affirm that it’s not important for him to fit in that everyone’s going to judge something, people are judging all day long in rather than trying to avoid judgment, he puts his attention on it doesn’t matter to me what kids say or do or anyone for that matter. I know what my truth is. I know what my purpose is. I’m going to follow the joy that comes from me teaching or putting myself out there in the world in this new arena. And I’m going to be open to the opportunities to learn and grow.
And I’m always fine. I’m always taking care of worthy of living in my joy and my Dharma. And all the rest is just noise. Do you see the difference between putting your attention on what do I need to learn from all of this? Maybe you don’t need to learn anything.
Because if you keep asking why it keeps happening to you, guess what you’re putting your attention on the problem? And not on what it is you want to create. In this very common, we go and we put our attention on the fear and the worry and the things that we don’t want. And that is how we stay stuck. And when we ask this question, why does this keep happening to me? This is what we’re doing. We’re putting our attention on, oh my God, this keeps happening. Oh my God, this keeps happening.
And you are literally holding it in place by asking that question. Instead, I’m going to suggest that the question change and shift to what would bring the highest expansion for me in this moment. What would bring the highest expansion for me in this moment? How could I expand my energy and my joy? And my light.
Out into the world. How can I bring my essence and the divine mind and divine intelligence it is within me wanting to come out and be expressed, how can I bring that elevated part of myself to my daily actions and expressions? Do you see the difference? What creates expansion versus woe is me, why is this happening? Why am I putting my attention on this? So often the truth is we don’t need to do anything about a situation.
Except to remove our energy from it. In remind ourselves, now wait a minute. Who am I where was I going? What is my intention? And refocus and recalibrate to what it is you do want and the direction you do want to go. The being who am I being? I’m being fear if I’m being doubt, then these people and these instances are showing up as a reflection of actually what I’m thinking about myself or who I’m being.
Thank you for the universe’s message of showing me my current reality is a reflection of where I’ve been being and where I’ve been putting my attention. And when you shift, who you’re being and where you’re putting your attention to the end result that you do want, that is what will manifest in the external world. Law of cause and effect.
So in this instance, the causes, what was he thinking? And not to focus on why does this keep happening to me, the reason why it keeps happening is because this is cause and effect. The cause is you keep putting your attention over here and the effect is the universe is always saying yes and it’s manifesting in the mirror to let you know oh this is what I’m getting. Now I see the cause. Let me course correct so that in a day, an hour a week, however long, what I’m going to see reflected is who I was being previously.
It’s a beautiful feedback system. It’s literally a built in feedback system from the universe to help us continue to course correct for where it is. We want to go come into alignment with who it is. We say we want to be. Does it matter if it’s physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, or financial well-being, and growth? The answer is still the same.
With dry your attention from the idea, why does this keep happening to me and put it on the version of yourself when you have arrived as the person in the place that you’re dreaming your desire is?
